I have to admit that these posters do make me smile. I look at that and think instinctively--yes, we are in peril--our planes flying out of the atmosphere! It is really some of the most slick advertising in history--the whole Cold War generated bomb-making machine that we had become. It was highly effective. I doubt ad agencies could sell Iraq or Afghanistan so well.
