... a little bit of ignorance can go a long way! Amazing how few people know or understand anything about the effects of a nuclear weapon. Not that it's a particularly relevant topic anymore- thankfully. But "kiss your ass goodbye" has become an arrogant reply for the cynical and anti-establishment- just as it was 69 years ago. Civil defense was neither foolish or just propaganda. The advice here is based on what scientists learned from the 2 atomic bombings of Japan. A great many casualties were from flash burns or flying glass. So surprise- your chances of getting wounded during a nuclear attack were (and are) much greater than a rapture style disintegration death.
