The AVRO saucer was built and tested. The USAF contributed funding. The one and only ended up, in 1968, being exhibited at "Man And His World/Terre Des Hommes", the sequel to Expo 67, in Montreal.
You could actually touch it. Neat. There's footage of it wobbling along a few feet above the ground. The pilot sat near the rim, not in the center.
